How can I clear things up with this guy?

Ok I use to like this guy in 6th grade and we were friends. By 7th grade he found out and he stop talking to me (we had no classes together) in 8th grade supposedly he talked bad about me (according to my backstabbing best friend) now were in 9th grade and he's gonna move next year (not far) but I don't want it to be awkward and I wanna be his friend but hOw? I have no classes with him either he's my friend on facebook tho
